My diploma is signed, so the project is now over? I don’t think so!
I like to see my graduation project as a first solid step. It proved the feasibility and the need for such a device.
An wow, I am stunned about all the email I receive from people or companies wanting such a device. Now it is time to go into the needy greedy details of make the device a good device.
As mentioned in my presentation, it is time for other expertise areas to have a look at the project and improve on it. And that is just what happened!
👨💻Software – First Jure joined the project, he is an embedded systems expert and wanted to help out, bring the project to a next level. For my it was still voodoo how SPI exactly works, so that is what he started to work on, and also defining the lines on what is firmware and what is software. So stayed tuned for updates from them.
👨🎓Research – Quickly after Jure started working on the project Jonathan reached out with an interesting perspective. Jonathan works at a big German plastic research facility and wanted to know how well my scanner compares to commercial scanners. I don’t know how they compare at this point, but for Jonathan that was not a comforting answer, so he proposed to start a research project around it. We are now in the process of writing a research proposal, stay tuned form more info on this!
👩🔬Usability – The most recent addition in brainpower to the project is Xiranai Dai, an industrial design student working on the ergonomics and usability of the plastic scanner. For her Advanced Embodiment Design project she is researching what can be improved for the embodiment, and how the screen interactions should look like.
